Only 10 in Ilagan, Isabela tested positive for COVID-19

MANILA, Philippines – Ten teachers from one of the best schools in the city of Ilagan, Isabela, tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19), the Ministry of Education said Thursday.

“Contrary to the report that 11 teachers in the city tested positive for COVID-19, 10 teachers at a high school in the city had a swab test and all tested positive,” Cariño said. She said that all the inflamed teachers are asymptomatic and confined in quarantine facilities.

The Director of DepEd explained that the local plan for continuing the learning of fundamental schooling of the department’s office obviously states that modules must be deposited through schools at the barangay corridor delivery points.

Barangay then distributed the modules, according to Cario.

Information from the DepEd II region showed that nine teachers contracted the virus from one of the teachers who first tested negative for an immediate test, but then tested positive for COVID-19 in a swab test.

He added that they all belong to the same school.

In a past interview with ABS-CBN’s Teleradyo, Governor Isabela Rodito Albano III said teachers had tested positive for COVID-19 after conducting an assembly without knowing that one of them was inflamed but asymptomatic.

Albano issued an earlier decree imposing a change in enhanced network quarantine in the city of Iligan from 6 to 16 October due to an increase in the number of COVID-19 instances in the city.
