The transfer reaches the finishing touch of the remaining sections of the BCR
Oman’s Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology is expected to award the design and structure contract for the remaining sections of Phase 1 of the Batina Coastal Highway (BCR) (Al Batina southern and northern governorates) through the first quarter of 2023, according to a project closure.
“The finalization of the design and structure contract was submitted on July 20, 2022 and the submission of bids is scheduled for October 17, 2022. Bids are scheduled to open on December 22, 2022. The contract is expected to be awarded through the end of February 2023,” the source told Zawya Projects.
The list of candidates included Galfar Engineering and Contracting, Abuhatim Co, Strabag Oman, Altasnim Enterprises, SunShine International, Oman Gulf Company, Sarooj Construction Company, Consolidated Contractors Company Oman and Marmul Contracting and Trading, according to five companies.
The scope of the contract includes the “design and construction” of the unfinished sections of RBC, adding service and connecting roads, interchanges, wadi bridges, crossings, traffic light fixtures in the domain between Al Naseem Garden and Al Suwaiq Port, in addition to Al Suwaiq. Exchange and between Suhar and Shinas (optional).
The assignment is expected to be completed through the current quarter of 2025, he said, adding that his estimated allocation cost is $70 million.
