The number of passengers leaving Oman increased by 69%
The number of passengers entering the Sultanate of Oman through the country’s airports registered a remarkable one hundred percent expansion at the end of April 2022.
The number of passengers departing from Oman increased by 69% during the same period. The number of passengers arriving, departing or in transit amounted to 2,324,007 during the period.
According to data released by the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI), the number of foreign flights arriving and departing from Muscat, Sohar and Salalah airports registered an increase of 89 percent to 15,261, up from 8,075 in the same period in 2021. .
The number of domestic flights arriving and departing from Muscat, Sohar and Salalah airports also increased by 25% to 3778, up from 3026 at the same time in 2021.
International flights through Muscat International Airport grew by 82. 3%, and the number of passengers (arriving, departing and in transit) expanded by 91. 4% to 1,723,632 passengers at the end of April 2022, compared to 900,707 at the same time in 2021.
Meanwhile, Salalah Airport recorded a cumulative number of flights of 58. 7%.
The number of foreign flights incoming and outgoing from the airport reached 962 at the end of April 2022, registering a cumulative of 150. 5%.
The number of domestic flights through Salalah Airport increased by 22. 9% to 1209 flights, compared to 984 flights at the same time in 2021. The number of passengers on domestic flights (inbound and outbound) through Salalah Airport increased by 45. 7% at the end of April 2022, compared to the same era in 2021.
The number of foreign flights (with departures and arrivals) from Sohar Airport reached 276 at the end of April 2022, while the number of passengers on foreign flights (incoming and outgoing) reached 25,065.
As for Duqm Airport, it recorded a 9. 7% increase in the number of domestic flights (departure and arrival) to go from 226 flights at the end of April 2022 to 206 flights at the end of April 2021.
Passenger numbers increased by 32%, from 15,943 passengers at the end of April 2021 to 21,051 passengers at the end of April 2022.
As for Muscat International Airport nationalities, Indian nationality tops the passenger list on flights departing and arriving through the airport, with a total of 111,226 passengers at the end of April 2022, followed by Bangladesh nationality with a total of 42,145 passengers and Pakistani nationality with a total of 29,228 passengers.
