Oman: Significant increase in camel accidents

Dubai: The Sultanate of Oman has reported a significant increase in the number of road injuries involving camels, local media reported.

According to data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), Dhofar governorate has noticed an increase in the number of deaths and accidental injuries related to stray camels.

The number of stray camel-related injuries rose to 20 in Dhofar governorate alone, an increase of 17% between 2021 and 2020.

According to NCSI data, there were 11 street camel-related deaths in 2021 and forty-five cases of injuries.

At the same time, more than 53% of traffic accidents in 2021 were caused by collision and more than 20 young people under 7 years of age suffered them.
