Oman Cables Receives OER Manufacturing Excellence Award

Empowering locals at the OER Manufacturing Summit 2022

Muscat: Oman Cables Industry SAOG (OCI), Oman’s leading commercial cable manufacturers, participated in the OER 2022 Manufacturing Summit, where the company won the OAE Manufacturing Excellence Award for Empowering Local Talent. The company has raised its omanization rate to nearly 50% in the following year by introducing education and progression systems designed to unlock the potential of the local workforce. The summit provided an ideal opportunity to share the company’s vision to help Oman Vision 2040 by implementing cutting-edge production technologies to improve the country. Cinzia Farisè, CEO of Oman Cables and Prysmian Group MEAT Region, highlighted the company’s commitment to helping Oman’s economic diversification by generating and supplying the most complex cable technology.

OCI is guided through a vision of “responsibility, innovation and excellence” that extends from its products and the opportunities presented to its workforce. As a member of the Prysmian Group, Oman Cables has access to the Prysmian Group Academy, which includes the Prysmian Business School. , Prysmian Professional School and Prysmian Digital School, where workers can attend educational systems in partnership with foreign commercial and technical schools with a special focus on individual building skills.

Oman Cables Industry has recently introduced several educational projects to ensure a long-term sustainable expansion of the company and its human capital. Development systems to improve workers’ skills have been designed to enhance local skills in various roles. “STEM IT”, “SELL IT” is intended for sales and “ADD IT” for control and finance.

Each program is taught over three to five years with virtual education, technical education, and assignment experience, and provides exposure to office cultures in Italy, North America, and the ASEAN region for the learning experience. OCI also offers a mini MBA to equip the media. and senior managers with leadership skills to take their careers to the next level, and a global youth program, “Build The Future”, which has so far provided Omani workers with an experience within the Prysmian organization of companies in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and the United Arab Emirates.

The OER Manufacturing Summit 2022 provided an ideal opportunity to delve into the opportunities, demanding situations and roadmap to realize the full perspective of the production sector in Oman. Focusing on the theme “Smart Manufacturing: Improving Competitiveness, Innovation and Transformation”, the summit brought together government officials, senior executives, experts and analysts to use the creativity of other Omanis, as well as the ultimate cutting-edge production techniques in line with the forward-thinking leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to expand a technologically complex fashion and production base.

Moderated by H. E. Dr. Saleh bin Said Masan, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Investment Promotion for Trade and Industry, on June 27, 2022, the OER Manufacturing Summit 2022 highlighted all facets of the production process. Key topics included consumer-centric production, smart factories, Industry 4. 0 and the virtual economy, as well as refining quality and production practices and quality grades to achieve world-class performance.
