Oman cables kick off “It Flows”

The Social Development Programme for Omani Women

This week, Oman Cables Industry (OCI) welcomed on board twenty Omani fellows for the SHE STEMS social progression program, which aims to prepare more Omani women for the country’s production and STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) sectors.

The launch of the program follows the signing by Oman Cables Industry of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) and the Ministry of Labor (MOL) in early August to expand and operationalize the SHE STEM initiative.

In line with the strategic goals of Oman’s Vision 2040, SHE STEMS will create more opportunities for Omani women to enter careers in the business sector and build a productive and diversified economy, based on innovation, integration of roles and equivalent opportunities.

The twenty Omani scholars were chosen from a list of more than 300 candidates. Starting this week, they started a six-month course on “Machine Operations” that will develop practical skills and hands-on on-the-job education. in device operations, with one in the production sector. Education will be supervised by highly competent and qualified instructors.

The Machine Operations course is the first of 3 she-stems systems programmed for implementation, all of which will be officially qualified through MOHERI. Upon completion of the training, the graduate will obtain a SHE STEMS certificate identified by the Ministry.
