Nova Scotia reports new COVID-19 deaths

Nova Scotia reported new COVID-19 deaths Thursday after reporting none the week before.

The province reported 942 new cases in its weekly update, an average of 135 PCR-confirmed cases for the week of Oct. 4-10. That’s down from 168 last week.

As of Thursday, Oct. 13, Nova Scotia Health reported that 354 patients in hospitals across the province had tested positive for COVID-19, more than 40 on the rise since last week. This number includes:

Nova Scotia Health had no numbers as of Thursday, but reported that 144 workers were on leave Wednesday due to a positive COVID-19 diagnosis, awaiting the effects of COVID-19 testing or exposure to a family member who tested positive for COVID-19. Last week, that number 169.

IWK Health Center said in an email Thursday that it has fewer than five children hospitalized due to COVID-19. The email also said there were 34 members on strike due to COVID-19 as of 8 a. m. on Thursday.
