A detachment of Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) fighters will arrive in the Northern Territory this month for air fighting training in the diversity of Delamere and the Bradshaw area.
After a strict quarantine period, approximately two hundred RSAF workers will use Australian educational spaces for flight education, including the use of genuine weapons, from October 7 to December 11.
The Singapore sets come with 149 flying squadron F-15SG aircraft, 112 squadron with a multipurpose refueling transporter (MRTT) and 111 squadron with an Airborne Advanced Detection G550 (AEW) aircraft.
Defense Minister Linda Reynolds CSC said the deployment demonstrated Australia’s defense partnership with Singapore.
“After making careful plans and arrangements across Australia and Singapore to minimize any potential COVID-19 threat in the Northern Territory, I am pleased that we can accommodate the Singapore detachment,” Minister Reynolds said.
“The arrival of the RSAF Fighter Detachment to supply the Northern Territory underscores the strength of the Australia-Singapore partnership and our shared commitment to regional security.
“Singapore’s army education in Australia is a component of our comprehensive strategic involvement. Support Singapore’s ability to create a force that provides strategic weight and supports stskill’s ability in our region.
“The educational trainings will see common local RSAF businesses, offering welcome top-end economic opportunities. “
Each RSAF member will go through seven days of self-laying and will take a COVID-19 check 48 hours before arriving in Australia.
They will then adopt another 14 days of quarantine in a specially designed hotel in Darwin that will be secured and controlled through the Australian Defense Forces.
The entire body of RSAF workers will be re-examined at the end of the quarantine period.
These measures are consistent with the successful arrangements of the United States Maritime Rotation Force in Darwin.
“This detachment was able to continue, with all mandatory protections similar to COVID-19, thanks to the fair cooperation between Singapore’s armed forces, the Australian government and the Northern Territory government,” Minister Reynolds said.
