No state of anti-terrorist operation in Belarus, to the KGB

MINSK, Oct 14 (BelTA) — Belarus has declared a state of anti-terrorist operation, the State Security Committee (KGB) told BelTA.

A KGB source said: “No anti-terrorist operation has taken position or is taking position lately on the territory of the Republic of Belarus. The data you have on the Internet is false.

The KGB explained: “An anti-terrorist operation means special measures taken to prevent an act of terrorism, minimize its consequences, prevent the operation of a terrorist organization or illegally armed unit, which are implemented to protect the interests of the state, ensure the safety of citizens and organizations, and neutralize terrorists. In accordance with Act No. 77-3 of 3 January 2002 on combating terrorism, the State Security Committee must claim the status of anti-terrorist functioning.

According to the source, education events scheduled in Belarus are recently being held to improve the preparedness of counter-terrorism agencies. The special tactical training of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which ended in Yelsk, Gomel Oblast, on October 12, is a good example. The training was carried out in conjunction with representatives of defense, security, police and municipal authorities.
