Fears that cyclists who travelled from the Cycling Tour from Sibiu to Romania to Italy for long-running races would be forced to quarantine them do not appear to be well founded. Bardiani-CSF Faizan says its pilots have returned to Italy and will participate in this weekend’s Strade Bianche.
On Friday, Italian Health Minister Roberto Speranza said: “I have just signed an ordinance ordering quarantine for those who have been in Romania and Bulgaria for 14 days,” raising considerations that cyclists who were on the Sibiu Tour would miss all Italians. Milan-Sanremo on 8 August.

However, Bardiani’s director Roberto Reverberi told Gazzetta.it Monday that his runners had won an exception.
“Our runners returned on a flight that arrived in Bologna around 2 p.m. Without quarantine, they signed a self-certification that they were in Romania for paint reasons,” Reverberi said.
The Sibiu Tour riders were evaluated to detect COVID-19 before the race (Reverberi said his runners had passed two tests) and will go through one on Tuesday to make sure they did not contract the virus in Romania.
Luca Covili, Nicolas Dalla Valle, Filippo Fiorelli, Luri Filosi and Matteo Pelucchi represented the team in Romania and Reverberi said Dalla Valle, Fiorelli and Filosi could run at Strade Bianche this weekend.
“Our staff came back down the roads and even then there are no restrictions,” he said.
