Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina state said censuses in Nigeria had been wrongly politicized.
Speaking while signaling the opening of the statewide stakeholder summit ahead of the 2023 population and housing census, Masari reiterated that all censuses conducted from 1963 to date, including the military area, have been conducted without policies of tribal and regional dimensions.
Also highlighting that the maximum of the figures accumulated in the afterlife have been falsified through the presidents, affecting the national planning of the country.
He therefore expressed hope that with the help of the generation that followed the 2023 population census, Nigeria would for the first time download the actual count of its population for proper planning.
The governor then suggested to classical leaders and other relevant stakeholders that they cooperate with census officials for the good fortune of activity in the state.
