The Presidential Working Group (TFP) on the Coronavirus Pandemic (COVID-19) said airlines complying with foreign flight protocols will receive a $3,500 passenger-based fine.
The national coordinator of the TFP, Dr. Sani Aliyu, made the disclosure while ruling the new protocols for foreign flights to Nigeria at the organization’s ongoing briefing on Monday.
It also revealed that, from now on, self-quarantined passengers who show up for a repeat OF the PCR (polymerase chain reaction) verification will have their names on a foreign watch list and their electronic passports suspended.
Aliyu, who explained that the new protocols would be strictly applicable to passengers entering the country from foreign countries, also said that THE TFP had concluded that it would now shorten the isolation era for incoming passengers in 14 days. 8 days from August 29.
“From August 29, travelers will have to pay their COVID-19 in the country. We are uploading a national payment portal, which will be connected to the existing Payments Portal of Lagos that is already active,” he said.
“We will continue the policy of making sure that airlines only bring passengers without symptoms of COVID-19 and with a negative PCR result. Airlines will be fined $3500 according to the passenger if they meet COVID-19 needs prior to boarding.
Upon arrival in the country from 29 August, passports will no longer be withheld through the Nigerian immigration service, however, passengers will be able to continue and leave the airport once they can show evidence of a negative result of PCR COVID-19, proof of payment for a RAP result in the country and where it is imaginable and where we were able to classify this form of fitness questionnaire that was sent manually or electronically.
“Passengers will be asked to isolate the property at home for a period of seven days. On the seventh day, they will go to the pattern collection center or laboratory for a new COVID-19 PCR on the eighth day, if the PCR is negative, they will be allowed out of isolation.
Based on a rigorous clinical review, TFP said it would be safe to shorten the era of quarantine or self-isolation for passengers entering the country from 14 days to 8 days, provided they had a negative result of day-to-day PCR verification. Seven.
“Passengers will be monitored through public fitness personnel during the self-isolation period, those who expand symptoms will be treated in the same way that we lately handle our patients who are positive for COVID-19,” he said.
He said the protocol that had just been adopted will be reviewed at 4 weeks and that “we will also read about the point of divergence between the positive effects in order to expand a list of accredited laboratories for the countries from which we obtain travellers.
In this sense, once we have a regulated laboratory, we will insist that all passengers use these centres for testing.
“All travellers planned to Nigeria must have tested negative for COVID-19 before they can enter the country.
“We are cutting the validity era of PCR verification from 14 days to 7 days from August 29. Preferably, PCR verification deserves to be done as close as possible to the starting point for Nigeria, preferably between 48 and 72 hours, however, it will still settle for the effects valid for 7 days.
“Before we board, we’ve been creating a payment portal lately. As you know, for now, the PCR we do for evacuated passengers has been sponsored through the Aliko Dangote Foundation.” We are very grateful for your generosity, we have brought more than 13,000 Nigerians stranded in the country as a result of this process. But from August 29, travelers will have to pay their COVID-19 in the country.
“We are creating a national payment portal that we will link to the existing Lagos payment portal that is already active for passengers and allow accredited and validated personal laboratories to provide those services.
“We will provide you with more information about payment portals and list data from accredited personal lab providers, as well as collection centers across the country on the payment platform and on the NCDC website.”
The coordinator added: ”Upon arrival in the country, from 29 August, passports will no longer be kept through the Nigerian immigration service, but passengers will be able to continue and leave the airport once they have a negative COVID PRC result, proof of payment for a repeating PRC result in the country and where it is imaginable and where anele has been to order an aptitude questionnaire that must have been sent in a manner manual or electronic.
“Passengers will be asked to isolate the property at home for a period of seven days. On the seventh day, they will go to their pattern collection center or laboratories to obtain a repeated COVID PRC result. Then, the eighth, if the PRC is negative, will be allowed out of isolation “.
With regard to compliance with COVID-19 protocols, “lately we are working with the Nigerian Immigration Service to design a formula that would allow us to identify those who have not undergone a re-control of the People’s Republic of China since day seven.”
“These passengers would possibly be sanctioned by including on the lost watch, the electronic passport suspended for a while if they refuse to take a new control of the People’s Republic of China or if they disappear from the process of isolation.
“We will continue to pay close attention to laboratory accreditation across the country as well as outside the country.
“These protocols will be reviewed within 4 weeks to ensure that the effects we get from passengers prior to boarding will remain reliable and if this policy is revised, it will be done.”
