Nigeria has the preferred selection to host the International Maritime Summit in November 2022.
The Nigeria International Maritime Summit (NIMS) is organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport.
This was revealed in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, Dra. Magdalene Ajani, and NIMS Board Chair Mfon Ekong Usoro.
Part of the message reads: “The Honourable Minister of Transport, Mu’azu Jaji Sambo, has been introduced as the main host, while the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Kitack Lim, will deliver the keynote address. “
Under the theme “Igniting the Blue Economy”, NIMS 2022 will feature government-to-government, government-to-business and business-to-business exchanges to increase investment and power in Nigeria’s maritime sector.
“H. E. Kitack Lim will be the first through an IMO Secretary-General in Nigeria in more than 20 years.
“We are excited to have this rare opportunity to welcome the world’s leading maritime diplomat to Nigeria and showcase the milestones this management has achieved in the maritime industry.
“During his visit, he is expected to participate in high-level consultations with government and personal sector stakeholders, with the theme of the NIMS summit, Igniting the Blue Economy. “
