Nigeria: doctors on strike for coronavirus assignment

Ankara

Doctors in the Nigerian capital Abuja began an “unlimited strike” for non-payment of a special benefit for coronavirus, media reported Tuesday.

The Association of Resident Physicians (NARD) announced the resolution after an assembly Saturday, on the Premium Times news website.

“The agreement would start a strike from 8 a.m.September 1, 2020 until payment of the COVID-19 threat and incentive allocation is received,” he said.

A threat bonus or staff incentive is paid to inspire them to paint on a specific project, especially in dangerous conditions.Health workers are exposed to the new virus.

Roland Aigbovo, director of the Group’s Abuja branch, said: “We have won any threat allocation since April and this is one of the main reasons we are going on strike.”

Its members are experiencing monetary difficulties, he said, adding that despite repeated ultimatums and warnings, the government has done nothing to help them.

In June, doctors canceled a week-long strike for welfare and under-equipment.

The organization stated that the decision, after the safety of officials, gave them time to respond to the outstanding requests.

Doctors’ movements are not unusual in the country, africa’s most populous, where the fitness sector has not received sufficient funding for years.

Since March, Nigeria’s fitness government has shown 54,008 COVID-19 infections, 1,013 virus-related deaths.
