NHS COVID-19, a touch tracking app created through the UK government, will be released to citizens of England and Wales starting today, and the app will be available on the iOS App Store.

The launch of the app comes a week and a part after the UK government announced its launch on September 24, and a month and part after the app becomes available to volunteer NHS lifeguards, citizens of the island. Wight and the citizens of Newham, who have tested the app.

Like other apps that benefit from Apple and Google’s Exposure Notification API, NHS COVID-19 is designed to track other people who come into contact with each other’s Bluetooth, offering a notification if any of those other people get the coronavirus.

In addition to a Bluetooth solution, NHS COVID-19 will allow users to scan QR codes to record visits to establishments such as department stores and restaurants to facilitate touch search, and UK corporations are encouraged to demonstrate QR posters that visitors can scan.

NHS COVID-19 will be available on iPhones running iOS 13. 5 or later, as well as on compatible Android smartphones, capable of interacting with each other. Downloading the application will provide commands to make certain notifications enabled and the capability functional.

The NHS had not originally planned to use the ‘Exposure Notification’ API from Apple and Google and was looking for another solution, however, after the API announcement, the NHS replaced the course and paintings in an app that uses the Apple/Google API after all.

“Exposure Notification” programmes have already been introduced in Scotland and Ireland, as in Canada, Denmark, Germany, Poland and other countries. In the United States, Virginia, North Dakota, Arizona, Delaware, Nevada, Alabama, Wyoming, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania have introduced apps that use Apple’s “Exposure Notification” API.
