The Danbury Railroad Museum hosts a family fundraising occasion where participants can tackle an antique in the museum’s special pumpkin patch.
The occasion will take place over five weekends: October 1 and 2; 8 and nine October; 15 and 16 October; and 22 and 23 October; and on October 29 and 30, all from 10 a. m. to 4 p. m. at the museum.
Participants will tackle “The Husking Bee” Pumpkin Patch exercise through the railroad’s historic backyard in a 1920s passenger car, pulled by an old ALCo RS-1 diesel-electric locomotive (or another vintage locomotive, subject to availability) to the pumpkin box where each and every child ages 2 to 12 can have a loose pumpkin.
Everyone can lose cider and cookies. Due to its popularity last year, the “haunted tail wagon” returns.
The Danbury Railway Museum is a non-profit, volunteer-only organization committed to preserving and educating about railroad history. The museum is located at the restored 1903 Danbury Station and in the sorting backyard at 120 White Street and features many of the area’s attractions. railway artifacts, adding more than 70 old cars and locomotives.
Immaculate High School has announced that 4 of its fellows are National Merit Program Scholarships.

Olivia Esposito, who is from Danbury, Alyssa Hartnett, who is from Ridgefield, Anna Kopec, who is from Bethel and Michaela Martin, who is from Ridgefield.
The 4 fellows ranked among the 50,000 most sensible fellows who participated in the 2023 National Competition by taking the SAT/National Merit Scholarship Prequalification Test (PSAT/NMSQT) 2021.
Newtown won a $47,000 T-Mobile Hometown grant to revitalize the Edmond City Council’s gym.
The refreshment is expected to support the area’s capacity as a network hub and multi-purpose area for sports, celebrations, civic events and emergencies.
The 5,000-square-foot area includes public restrooms, tables and portable chairs. The area can accommodate another six hundred people and serve about 400 more people for dinner.
With the funds, the municipality plans to install a kitchenette, improve electrical, virtual and communication capabilities, load more tables and chairs and the environment.
Community members celebrated the grant Sept. 24 at Edmond City Hall with dances and classes, wrestling demonstrations, face painting, games, awards, refreshments, musical performances and more.
T-Mobile provides those grants quarterly to up to 25 cities.

Dugal, who teaches the state-of-the-art strategic control course for undergraduate and master’s students in business administration at the university’s Ancell Business School, will spend nine months in Bahrain reading about public-private partnerships in the Gulf region.
In anticipation of his Fulbright scholarship, Dugal has developed an educational partnership with the University of Bahrain’s School of Business Administration that is expected to open up global business opportunities for academics and universities from either institution.

The Union Savings Bank Foundation recently awarded a $350,500 investment to 38 local organizations in Connecticut as part of the 156-year-old network bank’s ongoing efforts to give back to those it serves.
Of the total amount, $254,500 was allocated to 22 nonprofit education systems and $96,000 was donated to 16 pantries across the state.
The organizations that will receive the 2022 grants are:
· New Milford Children’s Center – The $15,000 will go toward education systems that will enrich the lives of local children.
