New Zealand and United Arab Emirates unveil men’s T20 2022 World Cup jerseys

New Delhi: With the start of the T20 Men’s World Cup 2022 in Australia starting next month, New Zealand and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Thursday unveiled their official jerseys for the flagship event. New Zealand, which was a finalist for the 2021 T20 World Cup, took to social media to announce the reveal of its jersey. The blouse’s design has an old-fashioned theme, derived from the mix of blouses worn in the early 1990s.

The blouse has a combination of black and gray with white text and lines. It also has the fern in white for the stars in red that complete the look. New Zealand will open its T20 Men’s World Cup crusade at Super 12 level in a 2021 final rematch against Australian champions on October 22 at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

The United Arab Emirates, on the other hand, has opted for a makeover. Starting from their same old black colour palette, they opted for magenta and bright blue colours, which were “inspired by the beautiful UAE winter”, according to Emirates Cricket. Board (ECB).

While the key elements of the logo remain intact, the color palette has a “gold and sophisticated” look, which aims to honor and aspire to the vision of the country.

“Our Board is incredibly proud of the new UAE Cricket logo, which denotes a history and honours the deep roots of our game in the UAE, and while we have retained the fundamental design elements, we have adopted a dynamic shift in the number one colours to symbolise our long-term progressive and greater alignment with today’s gaming and business landscape.

“We are very excited to launch our new logo and uniform ahead of the ICC T20 Men’s World Cup (2022), and look forward to seeing (this uniform) in the context of the impressive World Cup venues in Australia,” Emirates Cricket said. Board member Zayed Abbas, who will also travel to Australia for the mega-event.

The UAE will open its T20 World Cup crusade against the Netherlands on October 16 at Kardinia Park, Geelong. The team is in Group A of the first along with Namibia, Netherlands and Sri Lanka.

Australia originally scheduled to host the event in 2020, before it was postponed due to Covid-19 and rescheduled from October 16 to November 13 this year.

The ICC T20 Men’s World Cup 2022 will feature 16 overseas groups playing forty-five matches and the last one will be played on Sunday, November thirteen at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

It will be played in Adelaide (Adelaide Oval), Brisbane (The Gabba), Geelong (Kardinia Park Stadium), Hobart (Bellerive Oval), Melbourne (MCG), Perth (Perth Stadium) and Sydney (SCG).

This is the first time Australia has hosted the ICC T20 Men’s World Cup after hosting a record-breaking T20 Women’s World Cup, which was held in February-March 2020 and won through the hosts.
