The UK government opened a new coronavirus testing centre in western Edinburgh on Saturday 17 September, located at gate 55 Community Centre in Sighthill, is readily available to others without a car.
The new facility is provided through the UK government as a component of an effort across the UK to continue the accessibility of coronavirus testing for local communities and is operated through Mitie on behalf of the British government.
The centre is a component of the largest network of diagnostic services created in British history. In Scotland, it includes six driving service sites, nine transit sites, 20 cellular units and the Glasgow Lighthouse Laboratory, which works 24 hours a day to process samples.
In Scotland, the UK government provides all COVID testing and outdoor testing processing of the NHS. Approximately two-thirds of all daily tests are conducted through the UK government on Scottish fitness services.
Tests must be booked electronically in advance at www. nhsinform. scot/check-and-protect or by calling 0800 028 2816. People only reserve an electronic check if they have symptoms of coronavirus (high temperature, new and continuous cough, or loss or taste).
