New South Wales to implement incentives for domestic batteries

New South Wales has announced a new grant to make home batteries more available and affordable.

Starting Nov. 1, homes and businesses with pre-existing solar panels will be able to save up to $2,400 on initial installation prices for a home battery.

Those who don’t already have a solar installation will get advantages from the incentive included in the installation budget if the solar panels and batteries are purchased together.

Those who join a virtual power plant are offered an additional incentive of up to $400.

Rewireing Australia Director Dan Cass welcomed the New South Wales government’s decision.

“This is a wonderful policy and we hope that the other states and the federal government will return to the New South Wales-led direction,” Cass said.
