New San Juan County COVID Floor; Cases in New Mexico Fall 3. 6%

FARMINGTON — New Mexico reported 6,188 new coronavirus cases in the week ending Sunday, down 3. 6 from last week. Last week there were 6,419 new cases of the virus that causes COVID-19.

New Mexico ranked eighth among the states where the coronavirus spread the fastest, according to a study by Johns Hopkins University’s USA TODAY knowledge network.

The July 4 holiday interrupted who checked, when other people were checked, and when the effects of the test and deaths were reported. This can particularly skew comparisons from week to week.

San Juan County last week reported 572 and two deaths. A week earlier he had reported 563 and no deaths. Throughout the pandemic it has reported 43,985 and 785 deaths.

Across New Mexico, cases fell in 15 counties, with the most productive declines in Bernalillo County, with 1886 cases up from 2206 the week before; Sandoval County, with 409 out of 501 instances; and Rio Arriba County, with 91 out of 178 cases.

In New Mexico, the worst weekly outbreaks per user occurred in Los Alamos County with 682 cases per 100,000 per week; San Juan County with 461; and Lincoln County with 414. The Centers for Disease Control says the network’s highest levels of transmission start at 100 instances per 100,000 per week.

Bernalillo County, with 1886 cases, added the maximum number of new cases overall; doña Ana county, with 619 instances; and San Juan County, with 572. Higher number of weekly instances in 18 counties than last week. The worst increases from last week’s speed were recorded in Chaves, Doña Ana and Lea counties.

In New Mexico, another 17 people were reported to have died of COVID-19 in the week ending Sunday. Last week, another 41 people died.

A total of 570,866 people in New Mexico have tested positive for the coronavirus since the pandemic began, and another 7,963 people have died from the disease, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. In the United States, 88,593,875 more people tested positive and 1,020,861 other people died.

Over the past week, coronavirus cases in the U. S. have been reported. The U. S. population has decreased by 4. 6% compared to last week, with 750,600 cases reported. With 0. 63 of the country’s population, New Mexico recorded 0. 82 of the country’s cases last week. Across the country, 24 states had more instances in the week beyond than the week beyond.
