Kansas reported 7,490 new coronavirus cases in the week ending Sunday, up from 7,635 last week of the virus that causes COVID-19.
Kansas ranked 19th among the states where the coronavirus spread the fastest, according to a study by Johns Hopkins University’s USA TODAY data network. beyond the week, with 906,593 cases reported. In Kansas, the worst weekly outbreaks per user occurred in Hamilton County with 906 cases per 100,000 per week; Woodson County with 574; and Grant County with 573. The Centers for Disease Control says the highest levels of network transmission start at 100 instances per 100,000 per week.
The county of Sedgwick, with 1393 instances, added the maximum number of new instances overall; Johnson County, with 1309 instances; and Shawnee County, with 644. The number of weekly instances is higher in 55 counties than last week. The worst increases from last week’s speed occurred in Cowley and Geary counties.

“In Kansas, instances declined in 48 counties, with the most productive declines in Reno County, from 149 instances to 230 the previous week; in Finney County, with 131 out of 191 instances; and in Riley County, with 116 of 162 instances. ​
In Kansas, five more people were reported to have died of COVID-19 in the week ending Sunday. Last week, nine other people were pronounced dead.
A total of another 835,500 people in Kansas have tested positive for the coronavirus since the pandemic began, and another 8,971 people have died from the disease, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. In the United States, another 91,316,648 people tested positive and another 1,029,926 people died.
