A note on the states of the park: Masks are required in all federal buildings in Sandy Hook lately. Monmouth County is at a COVID-19 HIGH network point, as the CDC knows.
Guests are required to wear masks in the guest center, which is also the only building open to the public lately.
Other buildings can be used for private events and tours. Anyone taking an inside tour will be required to wear a mask.
According to the U. S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,In the U. S. , COVID rates and hospitalizations are rising in New Jersey and across the country.
The most recent tracking data indicates that most of New Jersey has a “medium” risk of transmission.
The rate of transmission and hospitalizations is classified as “high” in Monmouth, Ocean, Atlantic and Cape May counties.
Statewide, the CDC is reporting about 1,500 new COVID hospitalizations during the week ending Jan. 6.
New Jersey primary hospital teams are starting 2024 with new mask mandates to combat COVID, but also other respiratory illnesses.
While restrictions vary from hospital to hospital, most now require all staff, volunteers, patients, and visitors to wear a mask at all times in the facility.
The CDC lists New Jersey as having “very high” levels of respiratory illness. That includes COVID, flu and RSV.
As of now, there is no statewide mask mandate, and Gov. Murphy has not indicated that it is.
State Health officials are recommending that anyone showing symptoms of COVID, testing positive for COVID, or who had been exposed to COVID wear a mask when going in public.
