Naftali Benshaya, a United Hatzalah volunteer who donates her time and answers calls to the newly arranged dispatch center, explained what it’s like to receive calls from others in need. “Being on this aspect of the phone and filling out the application bureaucracy with other people in need means I hear their stories, their disorders and their pain. People in their 50s and 60s call and cry on the phone saying they don’t have a focus to make sure they have food to put on the table and that they fight alone, some even with a disability. It’s not easy.”
