New coronavirus cases surged in Kansas in the week ending Sunday, up 21. 4 as 5024 cases were reported. Last week, there were 4138 new cases of the virus that causes COVID-19.
Kansas ranked 37th among the states where the coronavirus spread the fastest, according to a study by Johns Hopkins University’s USA TODAY data network. beyond the week, with 800,077 cases reported. With 0. 88 percent of the nation’s population, Kansas recorded 0. 63 percent of the nation’s cases last week. Nationwide, 38 states have had more cases in the week since than in the week since.
Reno County has reported cases and no deaths in the past week. A week earlier, it had reported 129 cases and no deaths. During the pandemic, it has reported 19,123 cases and 245 deaths.
In Kansas, the worst weekly outbreaks per user occurred in Wichita County with 755 cases per 100,000 per week; Bourbon County with 495; and Scott County with 435. The Centers for Disease Control says the network’s highest levels of transmission start at 100 instances per 100,000 per week.
Johnson County added the maximum number of new instances overall, with 1145 instances; County Sedgwick, with 806 instances; and Shawnee County, with 414. The number of weekly instances is higher in 65 counties than last week. The worst increases from last week’s speed occurred in Shawnee, Sedgwick and Johnson counties.

In Kansas, cases fell in 31 counties, with declines in Douglas County, with 250 cases from 289 the previous week; in Riley County, with 69 out of 98 cases; and Franklin County, with 25 of 37 cases.
In Kansas, seven other people were reported to have died of COVID-19 in the week ending Sunday. The previous week, two other people were pronounced dead.
A total of 807,628 people in Kansas have tested positive for the coronavirus since the pandemic began, and another 8,952 people have died from the disease, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. In the United States, 87,843,561 more people tested positive and 1,017,848 more people died.
