Officials are expected to open the center at the county’s COVID-19 at the Old Community Center in Frisco on Wednesday, November 4.
Vail Health will run the new center in partnership with Summit County Public Health, Breckenridge Grand Vacations, Frisco and Arapahoe Basin Ski Area. The check at 110 Third Ave. will be open by appointment from 8 a. m. to 5 p. m. Monday through Friday.
The authorities said the expanded tests would meet the existing call and prepare for the opening of ski resorts and further visits to the region this winter.
“Our growing number of instances since Labor Day weekend has seven times the need for checks in Summit County,” Amy Wineland, Summit County’s director of public health, said in a press release. “We went from 360 checks administered in August to more than 2,508 in October . . . Working with those network partners will allow us to adapt and meet the call for this winter. Our purpose is that everyone who wants a check can pass one at the right time.
The center will perform PCR testing on nasal swabs for other people with and without symptoms. You do not need the advice of a fitness service provider to perform a test.
Vail Health Lab in Vail will process all samples.
“Our Vail Health Laboratory team has worked diligently to integrate our COVID-19 tests internally, making sure response time is faster and more effective,” said Chris Lindley, Vail Health’s Director of Population Health. “Thanks to Vail Health’s new internal testing capabilities, more than a hundred tests can be processed consistently with the day. “
