New COVID-19 cases in France in a record

France on Wednesday reported a momentary record of new COVID-19 infections in five days, with nearly 19,000 more cases in 24 hours, while hospitalizations for the disease peaked at three months.

The French fitness government said there were 18,746 more cases, above the previous record of 16,972 on October 3, a sharp increase from Tuesday’s total of 10,489.

The total number of cases since the start of the pandemic in March is now 653,509, the tenth in the world.

French President Emmanuel Macron has pointed to new restrictions to involve the pandemic, as well as measures already put in place through the government, such as the final bars at 10 p. m. in primary cities by adding Paris.

“Where the disease circulates too fast, there will be new restrictions,” Macron said in an interview broadcast on France’s two main television channels.

French Health Minister Olivier Veran and Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire will hold a press conference on COVID-19 on Thursday at 16:00 GMT.

The French fitness government said more than 7,500 patients were being treated in hospital for COVID-19 lately, marking a three-month high and an increase of more than 65% from the low of 4,530 reached on Aug. 29.

Fears of overflowing the hospital formula led to the imposition of one of the strictest closures in Europe between March 17 and May 11.

However, the number of others in extensive care sets fell from 10 to 1416 for the first time in almost 3 weeks, this total remains almost 4 times higher than the minimum of 31 July 371.

The number of other people who have died in France from COVID-19 infections has increased to 80, a higher than the seven-day moving average of 71, and is now 32,445.
