PARIS – France on Wednesday reported a momentary record of new Covid-19 infections in five days, with nearly 19,000 additional cases in 24 hours, while hospitalizations for the disease stood at a high of three months.
The French fitness government said there were 18,746 more cases, up from the previous record of 16,972 on October 3, also well above Tuesday’s total of 10,489.
The total number of cases since the start of the pandemic in March is now 653,509, the tenth in the world.
French President Emmanuel Macron has pointed to new restrictions to involve the pandemic, as well as measures already put in place through government, such as final bars at 10 p. m. in primary cities by adding Paris.
“In places where the disease circulates too temporarily Array . . . there will be new restrictions,” Macron said in an interview broadcast by France’s two main television channels.
French Health Minister Olivier Veran and Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire will hold a press conference on Covid-19 on Thursday at 16:00 GMT.

French fitness officials said more than 7,500 patients are recently being treated at the hospital by Covid-19, marking a maximum of three months and an increase of more than 65% from the 4,530 minimum reached on 29 August.
The fear of overflowing the hospital formula led to the imposing of one of Europe’s strictest lockdowns between 17 March and 11 May.
However, the number of others in extensive care sets fell from 10 to 1416 for the first time in almost 3 weeks, this total remains almost 4 times higher than the minimum of 31 July 371.
The number of other people who died in France from Covid-19 infections was more than 80, higher than the seven-day moving average of 71, and is now 32,445.
