Nepal: India lays the groundwork to build high-impact network projects in Udayapur

As per the embassy, the school is being built with Government of India’s financial assistance at a tendered cost of NRs 3.79 crore (286k USD) under ‘Nepal-India Development Cooperation’.

The occasion was also attended by representatives of the public, government officials, social workers, school administrators, teachers, parents and students.

The extra read: “The grant from the Government of India under ‘Nepal-India Development Cooperation’ will be utilized for the construction of a three-storey school with necessary study halls and other infrastructural amenities for this school. The allocation is underway as a High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP), formerly known as Small Development Projects, under an agreement between the Government of India and the Government of Nepal. This allocation is being implemented through Belaka Municipality in Udayapur.

Addressing the event, Narayan Khadka appreciated the continuous progress of the Government of India for the betterment of the Nepalese people in their priority sectors.

Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, Prasanna Shrivastava, under pressure that the allocation is a vital component of the strong cooperation between India and Nepal, which has made significant progress in recent years, covering priority sectors of the Government of Nepal and its people.

He expressed the continued commitment of the Government of India to this partnership of progress in line with the priorities of the Government of Nepal, for the mutual benefit of the other people of the two countries. He also highlighted last month the successful finishing touch of 20 years of HICDP implementation in Nepal.

According to the release, once the structure of this school structure is completed, this new infrastructure will help provide greater school amenities for the students of Shree Janata Belaka High School and contribute to the progress of schooling in this region.

He said, “Since 2003, India has undertaken more than 550 HICDPs in Nepal in various sectors and completed 488 projects. Of these, 84 projects are in Koshi province, adding 11 in Udayapur. In addition to these, the Government of India donated 974 ambulances and 234 school buses to various hospitals, fitness stations and educational establishments in Nepal on the occasion of India’s Independence Day and Republic Day. Of these, 141 ambulances and 35 school buses were donated in Koshi province, which includes 12 ambulances and 1 school bus provided in Udayapur district.

As close neighbours, India and Nepal share broad and multi-sectoral cooperation. The implementation of the HICDP reflects the Government of India’s continued assistance to the Government of Nepal’s efforts for the situation of its people, through the expansion of infrastructure in priority sectors, especially in the school sector, in Nepal, the embassy said.
