Nelson Cruz will be the general manager of the Dominican Republic National Team at the 2023 World Baseball Classic. Cruz will also play for the Dominican Republic national team. This will be WBC Cruz’s fourth participation.
Nelson Cruz will be the manager of the Dominican Republic national team in the 2023 World Baseball Classic, Morosi said Tuesday morning.
Cruz, 42, will play for the Dominican Republic national team at the 2023 event.
“I sense there will be a lot of discussion about an active player serving as a Guyager general for the first time in World Baseball Classic history,” Cruz said. “I would like to tell you that I am in a position for this. I’m a guy who loves challenges. I revere to settle for this nomination, given what the World Baseball Classic means to the Dominican people. “
The 2023 World Baseball Classic will be Cruz’s fourth appearance at the event. He was part of the Dominican Republic groups in 2009, 2013 and 2017.
Cruz recently underwent successful eye surgery to treat inflammation.
Cruz is a free agent lately and plans to play in 2023.
Cruz played for the Washington Nationals in 2022, in 124 games as the club’s designated hitter.
Cruz had a year of decline in 2022, at Array234, with a base of Array313, Array651 OPS, 10 home runs and 64 RBIs. He posted the lowest career OPS in a season since 2007 and his lowest batting average since 2006. He hopes to recover in 2023.
