The number of Covid-19 instances in the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region exceeded 2,298,507 on 15 October, according to Worldometer’s knowledge collected through MEED.
The GCC countries account for 38. 2% (876,898) of all regional cases, while Iran represents 22. 3% (513,219) of the 2. 29 million cases.
Iran has reported 414,831 recoveries and 29,349 deaths by Covid-19.
On 14 October, local media reported that the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Programme (Echo) had allocated $9. 4 million to help Iran manage the pandemic.
The United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef) will spend Echo’s budget on diagnostic and remedy fabrics that local communities can use. UNICEF also made separate donations of disinfectants, hand gels and soaps to help vulnerable youth in 31 cities in six provinces.
The countries of mena’s largest region account for 39. 5% (907,390) of the 2. 29 million infections.
Morocco, for example, has shown 160,333 covid-19 to date, with 133,959 recoveries and 2,726 deaths.
Yesterday, Morocco’s Minister of Economy, Finance and Administrative Reform, Mohamed Benchaaboun, said covid-19 had forced moroccan to review its priorities and weaknesses.
He added that he would launch a health care program on 1 January 2021 to increase compulsory physical health insurance for 22 million Moroccans in two years.
Benchaaboun added that Rabat allocates 11% of its GDP to the recovery of the economy, of which 7% will be to state guarantees, and the rest to the new Mohammed VI Investment Fund.
However, the fund will not interfere in the economic sectors and will depend on banks to inspire public-private partnerships in Morocco.
