MANILA, Philippines – More than part of the total number of COVID-19 deaths in the country were already lifeless patients when they arrived at hospitals.
Villanueva cited knowledge of the DOH that, apparently, as of October 5, about 3,279, or 5. 6%, of the five, 840 Filipinos who died from COVID-19 had not obtained medical treatment in hospitals.
According to DOH Secretary Francisco Duque, one of the reasons specific COVID-19 statistics was that most patients who arrived in hospital emergency rooms were already in “irreversible” condition.
“One of the reasons I was told that it turns out that there are a significant number of deaths that have not been admitted, quite a few – I’m looking for it to be validated – died when they arrived at emergency hospitals,” Duke says.
“It is a disgrace that the condition of patients once they arrive in the emergency room becomes irreversible. DO WHAT YOU DO,” he added.
In addition, Duque cited the behavior of Filipino highests in health care as one of the reasons why many PATIENTS with COVID-19 die without being admitted to hospitals.
“Most Filipinos, especially the poor, are left behind,” he says.
“The Universal Health Care Act and the Health Care Act are key words and recommendations in English. Primary care in [local government units] is: they can help you locate death on arrival,” he added.
The Philippines recorded 331,869 cases of COVID-19 as of October 8, 274,318 cures and 6,069 deaths.
