Monkeypox cases reach 38 in Indonesia

Jakarta – According to information from the Ministry of Health on Tuesday, there are 38 confirmed cases of monkeypox in Indonesia.

“In total, another 38 people, in addition to 12 others, have recovered,” the Health Ministry’s director of Karatina surveillance and fitness, Dr. Achmad Farchany, told VIVA on Wednesday.

Farchany extra said that of the 38 cases shown, nine were discovered in Jakarta. Of those nine cases, nine other people have been declared recovered.

“Meanwhile, in West Java there have been four cases, one case in Bandung, one case in Bekasi, one case in Cirebon and one case in Depok.

Meanwhile, five cases have been recorded in Banten. A total of two cases have been recovered in Tangerang regency. Then, in South Tangerang City, there are two cases, and in Tangerang City, one recovered case.

In addition, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin also revealed the transmission of monkeypox cases, where the transmission of this case is as fast as the spread of Covid-19.

“The transmission is sexual. Therefore, it is not as fast as that of Covid, which is done through sexual sex in certain groups. What we want to do is get other people in certain groups to have sex that they want to be good. The process is good,” the minister said in South Jakarta on Wednesday.

Minister Sadikin also said that the government has also prepared 1,500 vaccines that have been distributed in some areas. Subsequently, this vaccine will be administered to certain teams at higher risk of infection.

“The vaccine already exists, we have administered 1,500 vaccines in some affected spaces because, again, it is being administered to certain groups. It wants to be administered to certain groups,” Sadikin said.
