MoHFW orders states and UTs to provide stable source of medical oxygen for Covid-19 management

New Delhi [India], Dec. 24 (ANI): The Union’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) on Saturday wrote to all the country’s union states and territories and ordered them to ensure a functional and stable source of medical oxygen for Covid-19 pandemic management. In its letter, the ministry emphasized the importance of medical oxygen and life-saving resources in all clinical settings, namely the pandemic. A reliable source of oxygen is key to saving lives, patient care, and managing COVID-19. he said.

“During the Covid-19 pandemic, the Indian government has been assisting states/UTs through the installation and commissioning of PSA plants, oxygen concentrators, oxygen cylinders and other oxygen-like infrastructures for guarantee the availability of medical oxygen in a cost-effective and reliable manner in public health services throughout the country. The ventilator has also been extended through the Government of India to ensure better patient care,” the letter from the Department of Health reads, mentioning that it is holding weekly review meetings with all states and UTs to make sure that all equipment and medical oxygen equipment are in place and working well “In addition to that, the branch also facilitates the solution of technical problems faced across the States/UT. The SOPs on the rational use of oxygen are also shared with all states/UTs starting April 25, 2021 through MoHFW,” he said, adding that various educational sessions are underway to ensure the availability of qualified human resources to maintain the appliance in an optimal way.
