Mumbai The Ministry of Environment(EAC) Expert Committee on Coastal Regulation Area (CRZ) issues has given the green light to the structure of an 8,100 km long transnational fibre optic submarine cable linking Mumbai with Singapore, Chennai.

The assignment is officially known as the Myanmar/Malaysia-India-Singapore Submarine Transit Cable System (MIST) and is being executed through global generation provider NEC Corp. it is expected to be in service position one day in 2023. The Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA) assigned the crZ permit to MoEFCC on June 10 this year.
