Biotech company Moderna, Inc. (MRNA) and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, agreed Monday to cancel remaining pending orders from the existing COVID-19 vaccine source agreement for 2022.
Moderna’s agreement with Gavi has led to the source of nearly 70 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines for Gavi COVAX’s 92 low- and middle-income countries Advance Market Commitment (AMC). The Society has also facilitated the donation of more than one hundred million doses to those countries.
To ensure those countries have access to COVID-19 vaccines quickly to the updated variants, Gavi and Moderna will create a new framework for Gavi to procure up to one hundred million doses in 2023 on behalf of COVAX Facility.
