Six days after exporting the first batch of cultivated pineapples to Dubai, Mizoram on Wednesday sent another batch of organic pineapples to Dubai and Bahrain, an official said.
The pineapples were grown through farmers in Sialhawk Village, Khawzawl District, in the northeast of the state.
300 kilograms of pineapple were shipped to Dubai and Bahrain, said the head of the state’s horticulture department, Elizabeth Saipari.
The first batch of 230 kilograms of pineapple exhibited and sold at Dubai’s Lulu hypermarket on August 21.
According to the official, new pineapples harvested in Sialhawk and surrounding villages are also exported to Assam and neighboring states.

About 320 Sialhawk families, who grow pineapple, harvested about 5,000 quintals of pineapple this year.
Farmers in Mizoram developed pineapple in 2002 and harvested 6,400 quintals of pineapple worth Rs 97 lakh last year.
Sialhawk Village Council Vice President J. Rampanmawia said the manufacturing company has implemented a central transportation subsidy from the Processed and Agricultural Food Export Development Authority (APEDA).
He was hopeful that the pineapples and other locally grown vegetables and the culmination would be exported smoothly to foreign countries once the transportation subsidy was obtained.
