By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise (MAFSE) that in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), has signed the Country Programming Framework (CPF) 2022-2026.
“This strategy paper outlines the main technical cooperation spaces of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Government of Belize’s medium-term country-level programming,” MAFSE said.
The MAP 2022-20226 was signed through Minister of Agriculture José Abelardo Mai and FAO Representative for Jamaica, Bahamas and Belize, Dr. Crispim Morreira, in the presence of the UN Resident Coordinator in Belize and El Salvador Birgit Gerstenberg, Strategic Planning Officer Tracey Hutchinson and other senior MAFSE staff.
“The CPF 2022 – 2026 establishes the lines of cooperation that FAO will provide during the next 4 years and aims to promote Belize’s national progress priorities in 3 strategic work spaces,” said MAFSE.
The programme targets the capacity of government actors, such as extension staff, to help farmers find local markets and social coverage programmes, such as the school feeding programme.
The purpose is to make food safe and nutritious for all, end hunger and all the bureaucracy of malnutrition, and decrease the occurrence of noncommunicable diseases through better institutional capacity to raise awareness about nutrition.
