MUMBAI (Reuters) – Nearly 30% of the population of The Indian capital of New Delhi has probably become inflamed with the new coronavirus, according to a serological survey of another 15,000 people conducted through local government, a figure indicating infection figures are much higher than those recorded.
The survey, which assessed a population pattern for the presence of antibodies, was conducted on the territory of the country’s capital in the first week of August, Health Minister Satyendra Jain said Thursday at a press conference.
“We found that 29.1% of Delhi’s population had antibodies, which were inflamed and cured,” Jain said.
Delhi has a population of 20 million and has recorded a total of 140,767 COVID-19s out of a total of 2.84 million in India.
The effects of the survey are consistent with what other cities like Mumbai and Pune have discovered, i.e. a significant number of its population has been infected.
India reported on Thursday a record increase of 69652 coronavirus infections, according to the knowledge of the Federal Ministry of Health, with a number of deaths above 977 for a total of 53,866.
India is the most affected country in Asia and the third largest in the world after the United States and Brazil in terms of number of cases.
