“We have followed one of the top competitive approaches in the country opposite this virus and, as we took it very seriously, we are making it much bigger than the states,” Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said at a news convention on Friday.
Whitmer said last month, Michigan’s average infection rate is part of Ohio, Indiana, and Wisconsin.

“Georgia is the first state in the country to reopen its economy and now has an average of five new coronavirus cases consistent with the day, five times more than the state of Michigan,” he said. “And while states like Georgia, Florida and Texas reported tons of new deaths last week, Michigan had 43.”
The 1,121 daily instances of COVID-19 were the largest from May 14 to July 26, when a peak was allocated to instances that deserve to have been reflected in the previous day’s count, according to AP. Thursday’s figure coincided with the state reporting more than 40,000 check effects in a record day, the point of sale reported.
Whitmer also announced Friday a new partnership between the state, Ford Motor Company and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) called “MI Mask Aid”, which will provide four million loose masks to those who need them most. Whitmer said a million FEMA facials and 1.5 million Ford would move to low-income schools, the city of Detroit, federally qualified gymnasiums, some COVID-19 control sites, and many organizations that help succeed in vulnerable populations.
Michigan has a total of more than 90,000 shown and more than 6,280 deaths to date.
