As recently reported through the New Mexico Department of Transportation, the U.S. 285 structure is scheduled to begin on August 3. The first two stages will be positioned between the 0 to 7 and 18 mile markers along the U.S. Corridor 285. nearly $56 million. The construction of the 285 is far behind and everyone has worked in combination in all grades to achieve this.
Eddy County, in partnership with the state, is preparing routes of choice for this structure process, however, many of those routes will not be in position until the first week of August.
The first phase of the paints, mileage markers 0 to 7, will require lane closures to allow trucks to send appliances to the paint mastery and create car detours and emergency traffic. Traffic will be limited to one lane between mileage markers 16 to 18 during the allocation bridge replacement phase.
The speed limit in the structure area will be reduced to 50 miles according to the time. Delays are expected and motorists must obey signs and warning signs. This will be an example of short-term pain for long-term benefits, and will save many lives in the long run.
The city of Carlsbad is making its component to decrease the spread of COVID-19. We have expanded our own safety processes to protect our workers and residents, and this effort will come with more education on how to wear a mask, how to blank or remove one, and most importantly, what mask to make to help stop. COVID-19 and everything in between.
Based on recent visits to local stores, our businesses and citizens are also doing a wonderful job of adopting the recommended protection rules through the CDC. We’re all looking for tactics to improve, but we keep the job done smart.
As we have said many times over the last few months, the most important thing is that we are all in the same boat. Store workers who register to put policies in place that they don’t even agree with are not the enemy. Respect our local commercial homeowners and their workers. Remember that the purpose is to open all businesses and return to the most general possible point.

We’ll be ready to talk about what the governor’s update tells us in tomorrow’s report.
