May 10: Letter from Dr. Douglas Comeau

LINKS BC. EDU

Dear Boston College Students,

As defined by Fr. Leahy in April 23 letter to the B. C. community, Boston College will require all students, faculty, and staff to be fully vaccinated (with FDA-approved vaccines) against COVID-19 before participating in any on-campus activities similar to the one in 2021-2022. educational year. In addition, any undergraduate/professional students who are allowed to be on campus this summer will need to be fully vaccinated with at least their first dose by June 1.

People are fully vaccinated two weeks after their second Moderna/Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine or two weeks after a Johnson vaccine.

Exceptions to COVID-19 vaccination will be granted for valid religious and medical reasons.   Academic Health Services and the project and university ministry will review all waiver calls for undergraduate and graduate scholars/professionals on a case-by-case basis.   More information on this appeal procedure will be available shortly.

All undergraduate and graduate students/professionals who plan to participate in activities similar to those in the upcoming educational year will be required to upload a copy of their vaccination card to their patient record on the Agora Health Services portal.   I ask all academics, including senior members of the class, to do so now, if they have been fully vaccinated, or immediately after receiving a full dose of vaccine before returning to British Columbia.

To submit the immunization record and dates to the Health Services Portal, follow the steps below:

Any student who has received the vaccine continues to comply with the university’s and the public’s fitness protection guidelines, adding the required testing.   Fully vaccinated Americans who are at least two weeks away from receiving the Johnson vaccine.

If you have any questions similar to COVID-19 testing or vaccination, please feel free to contact University Health Services in covidtesting@bc. edu.

As a medical professional and university administrator, I am proud of how the Boston College network has recovered to meet the demanding situations posed by the pandemic.   As we close out the educational year, I ask for your continued cooperation and compliance with the University’s and public fitness rules related to COVID-19. Notably, that mask is still required indoors, at all BC events, in addition to graduation, and outdoors when physical distancing of six feet cannot be maintained.

Once again, thank you for your cooperation over the past year. I congratulate our graduating academics and wish them the best of luck in the future.

Kind regards

Dr. Douglas Comeau
