Matt Hancock is under pressure over a £400,000 deal to be released on I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here the cost-of-living crisis.
The West Suffolk MP and former fitness secretary landed in Australia for the show, which begins Sunday.
Reports suggest Hancock will pocket around £400,000 to appear on the popular screen and payday has sparked a backlash among some in the electorate facing higher food and electricity bills.
Sharon Twite, 50, owner of The White Swan in Exning, Hancock, voted for him in the last election and blamed him for “letting us all down. “
“He’s getting £400,000 to pass and eat larvae in the jungle, Jesus Christ,” the mother of 4 told The Sun.
“It’s embarrassing. It simply takes credit for his shocking behavior. He thinks he can get away with anything. The man simply has his feet on the ground. “

“This is a serious matter that justifies suspending the whip with immediate effect,” said Simon Hart, leader of the Conservatives’ whip.

Mega-celebrity Caitlyn Jenner earned £500,000 in 2019.
Former footballer and coach Harry Redknapp paid £500,000 in 2018 and won the festival that year.
Singer-songwriter Boy George will appear alongside Hancock this year and will be paid £500,000. Boxer Amir Khan will also appear this year for £400. 0 – the same amount as M. Hancock.

The Conservative MP, who resigned as health secretary last year after being caught kissing his assistant Gina Coladangelo, announced earlier this week that he would appear in the upcoming series of the hit screen ITV.
A report in The Sun quotes a screen source as saying: “[Hancock’s] remuneration agreement with I’m A Celebrity is around £400,000, which is one of the largest factor fees ever paid.

Official records from last year show that the MP of West Suffolk splashed a video camera microphone and video camera accessories.
The MP, whose salary is £84,144, charged the taxpayer a luxurious Apple laptop.
Climate minister Graham Stuart defended the Conservatives by taking the whip away from Matt Hancock for heading into the Australian jungle while Boris Johnson and Liz Truss were allowed to spend holidays.
He told Sky News: “We believe MPs deserve to do their job and with so many other people running away from home in those days, it’s imaginable to paint anywhere in the world. Actually, it’s not imaginable to do it from the jungle. “
“As he eats worms and pokes his head out in nasty places, it’s pretty hard to focus on what’s going on in his Suffolk constituency. “

Mr Hancock is a Member of the UK Parliament and in the past served as a healthy Secretary.
Last year, he was embroiled in a scandal after breaking his own Covid rules by kissing one of his assistants.
