Maple Leaf suspends red meat exports to China after COVID-19 resurgence at Canadian plant

Reuters reports that the company is proactively and voluntarily complying with new Chinese government protocols for Canadian processors that require any plant reporting a positive COVID-19 case to suspend exports to China.

“We are complying with China’s new Canadian import protocols and are working in cooperation with the Canadian and Chinese governments to temporarily resume exports,” Maple Leaf Executive Chairman Michael McCain said in a statement.
