MANILA, Philippines – Manila city government and Manila Police District (MPD) are recently investigating an incident in which several immediate control kits used for COVID-19 were discarded incorrectly, some two hundred pieces even scattered across the street in Sampaloc, Manila. Tuesday night.
“Mayroong is guilty of his sitwasyon na ito and we are now in favor of an immediate disposal of hazardous materials,” the mayor said.
“We can locate the clinic, a personal office, a hospital or a laboratory. [The MPD said] they are already examining sinisiyasat na ‘yung nangyari (and investigating the incident),” he added.

A video from the CCTV camera showed kits falling from a garbage bag loaded into a sidecar of a biketaxi.

The official also noted that the city government had already stopped immediate verification kits since July 15 after purchasing serological verification machines for coronavirus disease.

Meanwhile, used tubes, gloves, cotton balls, pipettes and non-public protective devices are placed in a plastic bag before discarding, according to the mayor.
