Cairo: The Egyptian government began on Tuesday to impose mandatory COVID-19 control on all travelers arriving in the country in an effort to stop the spread of the new coronavirus.
All travelers, Egyptians and foreigners, must show a negative CPR verification result in order to access Egypt. Check-in must be carried out 72 hours prior to arrival in the country. The Egyptian government said the move was taken due to the recent buildup of viral infections in several countries that it did not mention.
In an effort to bring Egypt’s important tourism industry to life, the government has allowed travelers arriving at airports in the hotel towns of Hurghada, Sharm El Sheikh, Marsa Allam and Taba to go through PCR control at those airports for $30 if they do not provide a document proving they are virus-free.
Tourism, Egypt’s main source of national income, is among the sectors most affected by the spread of the virus.
On Tuesday, visitors were reset all museum and antique spaces after a five-month closing due to strict sanitary measures. consistent with admitting a maximum of one hundred visitors per hour in the museum as well as in the interior sites, and 10 to 15 in an ancient tomb or pyramid.
But the Nile cruise ban will remain in effect until next month.
Egypt has recorded a total of 98,939 cases of viruses and 5,421 deaths by COVID-19.
