MINSK, Oct 15 (BelTA) — Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko spoke about Belarus’ role in Russia’s special army operation in an interview with NBC on the sidelines of the CIS summit in Astana, Kazakhstan, on October 14, BelTA learned.
The president was asked if Belarus would join the special operation of Russia’s army. “We, as I have said many times, are participating in the operation of the army in a way that is Russia in any way possible. Our lies in the fact that our western borders with Poland and Lithuania have not been violated, so Russian troops have not been stabbed in the back through Belarus. It has been like this from the beginning,” the head of state said.
“Our role is this: we treat wounded Russians and welcome Ukrainian refugees. We admit between 400 and 500 Ukrainians per day. They have the same rights as Belarusians here. This is our role,” Alexander Lukashenko said. But we didn’t kill anyone there, and we didn’t plan to kill anyone there. First of all, no one, and I am referring to Russia here, is asking us to participate in this operation. And we’re not going to do it. We have already said that. Apparently, you don’t need to listen to us. Well, that’s your business,” he said.
