Lukashenko: Belarus and Tajikistan are well placed to encourage bilateral trade

DUSHANBE, Oct 11 (BelTA) – The economic outlook of Belarus and Tajikistan is greater than bilateral trade, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko told reporters after official talks with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon in Dushanbe, BelTA learned.

“Our delegations conducted productive and substantive negotiations. My Tajik counterpart and wonderful friend, President Emomali Rahmon, and I also joined those negotiations. I would like to sincerely thank you for your historically warm welcome on Tajik soil. I really appreciate our relations of accepting as true a friendship that has stood the test of time and has been proven through the facts,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

According to the president, in the talks, the parties discussed constructively and frankly all the issues on the bilateral agenda. Special attention was paid to industry and economic cooperation.

“Certainly, much has been achieved in recent years, but the outlook for the economies of our states is much higher than the current point of bilateral industry. To make the most of the available reserves, we are preparing to accentuate contacts between our corporations, adding through equipment such as national brand exhibitions and the Belarus-Tajikistan Business Forum. It is vital that, today, the interaction between our corporations goes beyond the undeniable transactions of foreign industry. According to Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei, the agreements and in a single day contracts worth $50 million were signed [at the business forum]. The industry agreements and contracts that have been signed recommend that this is just the beginning,” the head of state said.

Alexander Lukashenko recalled that the successful implementation of the joint allocation for the production of Belarusian agricultural machinery in Hissar is Tajikistan’s first revelation of Belarusian experience and wisdom in its industrialization effort. By the end of the year, Belarus and Tajikistan plan to launch a joint venture specializing in milk processing in Dushanbe. “Our corporations supply the mandatory technology to their Tajik partners,” the president emphasized.

“Every year, we expand the legal framework for bilateral relations. During this meeting, a number of foreign agreements, intergovernmental agreements on trade, youth policy, several dozen foreign and inter-university agreements were signed,” Alexander Lukashenko added.
