Liz Truss would now attend the Cop 27 weather summit in the month of Egypt.
The prime minister is expected to warn Egypt as part of her plans to attend the G20 foreign summit in Bali in November, according to a report by The Sun.
This comes after the Sunday Times reported that Mrs Truss herself was unlikely to attend the weather summit and had told King Charles to abandon plans to attend. The newspaper reported that the king wanted to give a speech at the convention, but Ms. Truss intervened. .
Then, on Tuesday, a cabinet minister suggested to Ms. Truss that she attend next month’s important summit and allow Charles to do so as well.
Number 10 said Wednesday it would check any plans later. Buckingham Palace showed The Independent over the weekend that Charles would not attend the conference. The Independent contacted Buckingham Palace to verify whether the king still contemplates not attending and whether other wishes of members of the royal circle of relatives.
It would be general for Charles to seek Ms Truss’s recommendation on whether to move to COP27, a royal source told The Independent on Saturday, stressing that any suggestion that Charles’ attendance at the summit is a point of war of words with Ms Truss is false.
Charles is a committed environmentalist who has been advocating for sustainability, organic farming and the importance of combating the climate crisis and biodiversity loss for decades. The summit in Egypt aims to translate into action many of the events in Glasgow to combat global warming and advance issues such as loss and damage suffered by emerging countries on the front line of the climate crisis.
Speaking at Cop 26 in Glasgow last year, he told world leaders that countries will have to interact on a “war base” to tackle the climate crisis, with a “military-style crusade to mobilise the strength of the global personal sector”. .
But when he ascended the throne last month, one wondered how and to what extent the king’s environmental commitment could manifest itself under his new, stricter constitutional role.
Heading to the country after his mother’s passing, Charles said he knew “it would no longer be imaginable for me to devote so much time and power to charities and issues that are so close to my heart. “
Queen Elizabeth II addressed the weather summit in Glasgow last year. In his speech, he said many other people hoped that “the time of words has passed into the time of action. “
