Liverpool bosses have reportedly travelled to Brazil to negotiate a £20m move for much-loved defender Lucas Beraldo. The Reds are desperate to reach a quick deal before the January window and must convince the Sao Paulo star to finalise a Premier League trade.
Beraldo’s form in Brazil has caught the attention of Europe’s top clubs. Liverpool are reportedly desperate to secure a move for the 19-year-old centre-back as Jurgen Klopp looks to rejuvenate his defensive line.
Anfield representatives reportedly met with their Sao Paulo counterparts after the Brazilian side’s win over Bragantino last week. Now they hope to convince Beraldo to sign up for them.
A £20m move may be agreed before the January window as Klopp needs new faces in central defence. Joel Matip could leave at the end of the season, while Virgil van Dijk will turn 33 next summer. Joe Gomez and Ibrahima Koñate have suffered injuries and inconsistencies.

According to The Sun, the trip to Brazil is separate to Liverpool’s pursuit of Andre Trindade. The Reds are reportedly set to compete with Premier League rivals including Arsenal and Manchester United for the 22-year-old defensive midfielder.
Liverpool have lacked a quality option in that position despite a sweeping overhaul in the summer transfer window. But talks in Brazil have been exclusively focused on securing a move for Beraldo, the report insists.
It is claimed that Beraldo will be promised a quick move to Liverpool’s first team, with Joel Matip lately leaving next summer, leaving only three senior centre-backs at Anfield. The Merseysiders are preparing for the move now so they can most likely make it through the festival before January.
Liverpool will be hoping to secure a double whammy for the Brazilian ability with the additions of Beraldo and André in the coming months. Several other European clubs are said to be interested in the latter.

André’s performances with Copa Libertadores champions Fluminense have linked him with Liverpool, Arsenal and Man Utd. All three clubs are ready for their respective midfielders in January.
Fabinho’s departure in the summer to Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ittihad has left a huge void at the base of Liverpool’s midfield. Wataru Endo signed from Stuttgart this summer, but the 30-year-old is not the long-term solution to the Reds’ problem.
The much-loved youngster André would be compatible with the midfield profile Klopp is looking for, helping the German complete his drastic midfield overhaul.
