Likud’s whip says it will push for a break from bill, triggering a new coalition fight

Likud and Kakhol lavan have controlled a complicated partnership since the formation of the unity government in May with the promise of efforts to combat the coronavirus crisis.

On Friday, Justice Minister Avi Nissenkorn of Kakhol Lavan and Minister David Amsalem of Likud announced that the coalition would prevent the advance of laws unrelated to the pandemic. The resolution was intended to ensure that Likud could not comply with the waiver bill, according to the Haaretz newspaper.

The unity government, formed after three successive elections that were unfinished, was plagued by months of disputes and blockades between right-winger Likud and centrist Kakhol lavan.

Among other disagreements, lately the parties disagree on the adoption of a one-year budget, as proposed by Finance Minister Yisrael Kats (Likud), or a two-year budget [powered by Kakhol Lavan and included in the unity agreement, according to The Party.
